Lockpicking
Open locked chests, play the Treasure Lock, and crack the hidden Golden Lock Chests.
Overview
Lockpicking opens dungeon and treasure chests and feeds the Treasure Lock minigame.
What It Does
- You need at least the chest's required skill to try. Dungeon chests need 5, 20, 50, 70, 90 or 100 by level; treasure map chests 5, 45, 65, 75, 75.
- A failed pick breaks 25% of the time. Dungeon chests always hold at least one magic item.
On Perilous Legends
- Treasure Lock: 20% of successful dungeon picks (30% with Cutpurse Perception) start a timing minigame. Higher Lockpicking widens the release window; winning opens a secret cache with a second full loot roll and a small chance at Treasure Hue cloth or dye.
- Golden Lock Chests: two hidden top-tier chests per dungeon, found with Detecting Hidden or Reveal; 95 Lockpicking to try, roughly 30% at 100.
- Fine Lockpicks (Cutpurse, Tinkering): 100 charges, never break, worth about 20 skill. The Blessed Lockpick (Treasure Hunter Quartermaster) never breaks.
Classes That Use It
Pirate: Safecracker +5 Lockpicking per level and +5% pick success per level. Cutpurse: Tumbler +1 per level and +1% success per level, Perception raises the Treasure Lock chance.
Training It
Practice on a training chest (it relocks itself and tunes to your skill up to 95), then dungeon and paragon chests of your level. Thieves teach it; champion and Treasure Hunter Quartermaster scrolls take it to 120.
