Parrying
Block with a shield, or with a two-handed weapon at half strength.
Overview
Parrying turns a shield into a real defense, and on Perilous Legends it also works, at half effect, with any two-handed melee weapon.
What It Does
- With a shield: the shield's rating scales with your skill (Parry x base rating / 200 + 1). Block chance in percent is Parry minus twice that rating. A block absorbs half the rating against melee and the full rating against arrows, and wears the shield a little.
- Two-handed melee weapon, no shield: the weapon parries like a heater shield at 50% effect. At 100 Parry that is a 37.5% block absorbing 3 melee or 6 archery damage (a real heater at 100 blocks 75% for 6 or 12).
- Bows and fists never parry. A one-handed weapon without a shield gets nothing.
On Perilous Legends
- Stalwart shield enchantment: +10/15/20/25 Parrying by quality.
- Slayer Guild Shield (Slayer Quartermaster): +20 Parrying and spell channeling.
- In PvP, two-handed weapons lose 10% off their top damage roll; the two-handed parry is the trade.
Classes That Use It
Gladiator: Impenetrable (level 12 fork) adds +5 Parrying per Gladiator level, up to the 120 ceiling.
Training It
Gain comes when a block is rolled, so fight with a shield or a two-hander. In the champion power scroll pool.
