The Casino
Eight house games and a live poker room.
Overview
The casino is a set of games of chance you play in your browser, staked entirely with the gold you carry in the bank. It is genuinely fun, and the tables and machines are the real thing.
Gold, and only gold. Every stake, payout and jackpot in the casino is plain in-game gold. There is no other currency and nothing you win converts to anything outside the game.
Getting In
The casino is reached through the Casino Stone in Britain. Double-click it (stand within a few tiles) and a buy-in window opens.
You choose how much gold to bring to the floor. The buy-in is drawn straight from your bank - backpack gold is never touched - and must be between 1,000 and 100,000,000 gold. That amount becomes your chip balance; the game then opens in your web browser and shows a live floor with your own character standing on it.
A few house rules on the door:
- Bank-rooted. Money in and money out both go through your bank, so every casino transaction is on the books. Backpack gold stays where it is.
- One session at a time. An account can only hold one casino session open. Close out before you can buy in again.
- Stable your pets. You cannot enter with an un-stabled, un-mounted pet standing out in the world. Stable it or mount it first - the game will not let you park a pet outside while you wander off to the tables.
- Safe ground. The casino building itself is a protected zone: no player-versus-player harm, no stealing or snooping, and no stamina drain inside. Anyone flagged for PvP is turned away at the door.
The Games
Eight games run on the house floor, plus a live multiplayer poker room covered below. Every house game works the same way under the hood: the server decides the outcome the instant you commit a bet, using a cryptographic random draw, and your browser only animates the result the server already chose. There is nothing to forge and no "lucky client" - the spin, roll or card flip you watch is theatre for a decision that was already made.
| Game | How it plays |
|---|---|
| Blackjack | Six-deck blackjack against the dealer |
| Roulette | American wheel, inside and outside bets |
| Dragon Hunt | Ride a rising multiplier, cash out before it pops |
| Dragon's Lair | Climb nine rows, dodge the traps, bank when you like |
| Craps | Dice, with a full pass-line and prop layout |
| Slots | 5×3 reels, 20 lines, bonus wheel + Progressive Jackpot |
| Ultima Texas Holdem | Heads-up hold'em against the dealer |
| Scratch Ticket | Buy a ticket and scratch it |
Blackjack
Standard six-deck blackjack. The dealer hits soft 17, a natural blackjack pays 3 to 2, insurance pays 2 to 1, you may double on any two cards, and you can split up to four hands (split aces draw one card each and then stand). There is no surrender.
Roulette
A full American wheel: 0, 00, and 1 through 36. Straight-up numbers pay 35 to 1, the even-money outside bets (red/black, odd/even, high/low) pay 1 to 1, and dozens pay 2 to 1.
Dragon Hunt
You place a bet and a multiplier starts climbing from 1.00x. Cash out and you take your bet times whatever the multiplier reads at that moment. Wait too long and it crashes, and a bet you did not cash is gone. The catch is that only the server knows where the crash point is; you are betting on your own nerve. Bets are capped at 100,000 gold a round and the multiplier tops out at 100x.
Lag is real here. Your cash-out is judged by when it reaches the server, not when you clicked. This is the one game where a bad connection can cost you a round you felt you had won - it is unavoidable in a game decided in real time, so give yourself a margin rather than cashing out on the last possible tick.
Dragon's Lair
A climbing game. There are nine rows; each row is a set of cells where some are safe and one or more hide a trap. Pick a safe cell and you climb, and your multiplier grows with every row you clear; pick a trap and the round is over and the bet is lost. You can cash out after any cleared row. Three difficulties change the odds and the reward:
| Mode | Layout | Multiplier per cleared row |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 3 cells, 2 safe | ~1.44x |
| Medium | 2 cells, 1 safe | ~1.92x |
| Hard | 3 cells, 1 safe | ~2.88x |
Craps
Dice, with the real layout: pass and don't-pass, come and don't-come, place bets, field, the props and the hardways. Line bets pay 19 to 20, the field pays even money (including on the 2 and 12), and free odds are disabled.
Slots
A five-reel, three-row machine with 20 paylines, wild and scatter symbols, a bonus wheel, and a progressive jackpot. You bet per line - between 100 and 10,000 gold a line, up to 20 lines, so as much as 200,000 gold a spin. Landing enough scatters spins the bonus wheel, which pays a multiple of your bet, or possibly the Jackpot. The progressive pool seeds at 25,000 gold and grows by 1% of every losing spin across the whole shard.
Ultima Texas Holdem
Heads-up hold'em against the dealer. You post an Ante and an equal Blind to start (ante between 100 and 25,000 gold), with an optional Trips side bet. As the community cards come out you either check or make a Play raise; the dealer needs a pair or better to qualify. The Blind bonus pays on a straight or better and scales up to 300 to 1 for a royal flush; the Trips side bet pays from 3 to 1 up to 50 to 1.
Scratch Ticket
Buy a ticket, scratch it, see what you won. The prize is a percentage of the ticket price - anywhere from a token 10% back up to a 2,000% jackpot. It is the simplest game in the building.
Multiplayer Hold'em
Off to the side of the house games is a live multiplayer poker room - real Texas Hold'em against other players, not the dealer. You take your seat straight from the casino floor, and your casino gold rides in as chips and out again when you leave the table.
Poker is the one game where the house is not your opponent. You are playing other people, the pot is other players' gold, and the room only shuffles and deals. It runs on a dedicated poker server, so hands are dealt and settled there rather than in anyone's browser - nobody at the table can rig a deal. Cash out of the poker room before you leave the casino; your chips have to come back to your session before the floor will pay you out.
Cashing Out
When you are done, Cash Out first. The Cash Out control is at the top-left of the poker window, and your remaining chip balance is banked as a bank check straight into your bank box. If you close the browser before you cash out, your payout still comes through - it is banked automatically 5 minutes later.
Because the buy-in and the payout both run through the bank, your whole casino history is on the books. Gambling also feeds the High Roller leaderboard, which tracks total gold wagered - so the shard's biggest gamblers are a matter of public record, win or lose.
Tips
- Only bring gold you are happy to wager.
- On Dragon Hunt, cash out with a margin. Your click is judged when it reaches the server, so a laggy connection can eat a round you thought you had won.
- In Dragon's Lair, a modest early cash-out often beats pushing for the top floor.
- Stable your pets and settle any PvP flag before you head in, or the door will turn you away.
