Dueling Arena

Organized one-on-one and two-on-two fights in dedicated arenas - ranked, refereed, and with nothing to lose.

Overview

The arena is where you settle it cleanly. Instead of hunting someone in the open world, you post a duel - one-on-one or two-on-two - get teleported into a walled arena, and fight a fair fight under a set of agreed rules. Win or lose, you keep everything: nobody dies, nobody loots a corpse, nothing drops.

It is the honest test of a PvP build, and it is available any time - no schedule, no waiting for an event slot. There are sixteen arenas set aside for it out in the Lost Lands, a ruleset you agree on before the bell, and an ELO rating that keeps score across every match you fight.

The Duel Stone

Everything runs through the Arena Duel Stone. Double-click it (from within a few tiles) to open the arena menu, a multi-tab panel that is your hub for the whole system: browse open matches, create your own, check the rankings, spend your rewards, and manage your duel builds.

Setting Up a Match

You fight either 1v1 or 2v2. To get a duel going you either post your own listing or join one that is already open:

  1. Create a match. Pick the format and the ruleset you want to fight under, then post it - you take the first slot on your side.
  2. Or join one. Browse the list of open duels and drop into an open slot on one that suits you.
  3. Fight. Once both sides are filled, everyone gets a ready-check and is teleported into a free arena.

Rulesets

Every match is fought under a ruleset chosen by whoever creates it, so both sides know the terms before the countdown. The creator sets the format and then flips a handful of switches:

What the match creator can set
OptionChoices
Format1v1 or 2v2
EquipmentAny (anything goes), None (fists only - no weapons or armor at all), or Normal (plain crafted gear only, no magic or enchanted items)
MountsAllowed or off
On/off togglesPoison weapons, Paralyze, Trapped Pouches, and each potion type (Heal, Cure, Refresh, Explosion, Poison) plus Bandages

A few things are fixed for every match: no pets or summons ever, rounds run to a 10-minute length, and every duel is public and ELO-tracked. To stop a fight dragging out forever there is a hard cap at fifteen minutes - if nobody has won by then, both duelists are ruled out and it counts as a draw that helps no one. That is the incentive to actually close the kill.

Supplies

You do not have to bring a thing. On entry the arena hands each duelist a loaner kit - a greater heal, cure and refresh potion, a strength and agility potion, an explosion and poison potion, a bandage, a trapped pouch and a full set of magery reagents - trimmed to whatever the ruleset allows. It is topped back up every few seconds during the fight, and reagents and ammunition are never consumed from your own stock, so a duel never costs you supplies. The kit is swept away when you leave.

Duel Templates

You also do not have to fight in your open-world build. The arena lets you save duel templates: ready-made stat and skill loadouts that are applied when you enter a match and swapped back out when it ends. Build a proper dueling setup once and it is there every time you step on the sand.

Templates are capped like a standard character - 225 total stats and 700 total skill, across up to seven chosen skills - and you can keep up to seven saved at a time. Your real character's stats and skills are never touched; the template only exists for the duration of the fight, and any skill not in it is set to zero while you are in the ring.

How a Duel Plays Out

The match itself is tightly refereed so it is always clean:

The arenas sit in a walled-off safe zone - the only fighting allowed is between duel opponents in their own pit.

Ranking & Rewards

Every decisive duel feeds an ELO rating. Ratings are tracked both by season and for your lifetime, and separately for 1v1 and 2v2, so you can see how you stack up over the long haul or just this season. Everyone starts at 800 and moves from there; a draw at the time cap awards nothing. The menu's rankings tab shows the top hundred players for each format.

On top of the ladder there is a tournament layer with its own reward economy - Arena Points, spent in the arena reward shop on special cloth, dyes and ethereal mounts in the arena's own deep-red "Oxblood" colour.

What It Costs

Nothing. Dueling is free - there is no entry fee, no ante and no gold on the line, and because a duel can never kill you or drop your gear, you never risk your equipment either. The stakes are your rating and your pride. That makes the arena the safest place on the shard to test a build, practice a matchup, or just settle an argument. If you want money at risk, that is what the open world and the casino are for.
