Perilous Legends Wiki

Skills & Stats

How your character fights, casts, and builds on Perilous Legends - stats, skills, spells, and several complete builds on one character.

Overview

Perilous Legends is based on a UO:Renaissance Publish 16 Era ruleset. Your character is built on the three familiar attributes - Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence - feeding hits, stamina, and mana. One character can hold several complete builds at once.

Spells & Resistance

Offensively, spells are determined by the Magery and Evaluating Intelligence skills. Defensively, the Resisting Spells skill will mitigate that damage.

Armor mitigates physical hits on an armor-rating basis. So a well-rounded fighter wants armor for melee and Resisting Spells for casters.

Swing Speed

Two things set how fast you attack in melee: the weapon's own base speed, and your current Stamina. Faster weapons swing more often, and the more Stamina you have, the quicker every weapon comes back around. You can work out the exact rate yourself.

The delay between swings, in seconds, is:

Swing speed formula
Seconds between swings = 15000 ÷ ((Stamina + 100) × Weapon Speed)

Weapon Speed is the number listed on the weapon (higher is faster). A shorter delay means more swings. For example, a Weapon Speed of 40 at 100 Stamina gives 15000 ÷ ((100 + 100) × 40) = 1.88 seconds between swings; raise Stamina to 150 and the same weapon drops to 15000 ÷ ((150 + 100) × 40) = 1.5 seconds. Keep your Stamina up and you keep your damage flowing.

Custom Skills

Perilous Legends adds two skills of its own - Enchanting and Skinning. Enchanting is a crafting skill that uses materials from the Skinning gathering skill, and rare dropped recipes, to apply bonuses to weapons, armor and Pet Equipment.

See Enchanting and Skinning for what the skills do and how to raise them.

Builds: The Personality System

Perilous Legends gives you one character, but that character is not stuck with one skill template. The Personality system lets a single character hold several complete builds - each a full set of skills and stats - and swap between them. A warrior build and a mage build can live on the same character; you switch to whichever one the night calls for. The full walkthrough is on the Personalities page.

You open it by double-clicking the blessed Personalities item in your backpack, or with the [PLPersonality command.

Slots

You start with two build slots for free. You can unlock more, and the price doubles each time you buy one:

Cost to unlock each extra build slot
SlotCost
1st and 2ndFree
3rd500,000 gold
4th1,000,000 gold
5th2,000,000 gold
6th and beyondDoubles again each time (4M, 8M, ...)

Gold is pulled from your backpack first, then your bank. If you would rather not spend gold, you can pay in Ether Charged Powder from your bank instead, at a rate of 50 gold per powder (so a 500,000-gold slot costs 10,000 powder). The system allows a large number of slots in total, but the doubling price means most players settle for a handful.

What a build stores - and what it does not

A build is your skills and your stats (Str, Dex, Int). That is it. Everything else belongs to the character and does not change when you swap builds:

So swapping to your mage build does not cost you your Pirate levels or empty your pack - it only changes the skills and stats on your sheet.

Swapping builds

Switching to another build starts a 2-minute channel. You are frozen for the duration and taking damage cancels it, so do it somewhere safe and out of combat. There is no cooldown between build swaps - the channel is the only cost. Your active build also auto-saves every 30 seconds, so your latest training is captured even if you crash or log out.

Activating a new, empty build resets your skills to zero. The first time you switch into a build slot you have never used, all your skills are set to 0 - it is a fresh start you train from scratch. Your original character is preserved as Build 1 the first time you ever swap, so you can always return to the skills you came in with. It is the new slot that starts blank, not your first one.

One more safety step: right after any swap, every skill is set to Locked. That stops you from accidentally gaining into a skill you meant to leave at zero. Open your skills list and unlock the ones you actually want to train.
