The Personality System

One character, many builds. Store a full set of skills and stats in each slot and swap between a warrior, a mage, or a crafter whenever the moment calls for it.

Overview

Perilous Legends gives you one character, but that character is not stuck with a single skill template. The Personality system lets one character hold several complete builds - each a full set of skills and stats - and switch between them. A warrior build and a mage build can live on the same character; you swap to whichever one the night calls for.

You manage it from the blessed Personalities item in your backpack. Double-click it, or type [PLPersonality, to open the management window. Every slot you own is listed there with a short summary of its top skills, and clicking a slot begins the swap.

Build Slots

Every character starts with two build slots for free. You can unlock more, and the price doubles each time you buy one:

When you buy a slot, the gold is pulled from your backpack first, then your bank. You can hold a large number of builds in all, but the doubling price means most players settle on a handful.

If you would rather not spend gold, you can pay in Ether Charged Powder from your bank instead, at a rate of 50 gold per powder. That makes a 500,000-gold slot cost 10,000 powder, a 1,000,000-gold slot cost 20,000 powder, and so on. The powder must be sitting in your bank when you buy.

What a Build Holds - and What It Does Not

A build is your skills and your stats (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence). That is all it stores. Everything else belongs to the character and does not change when you swap builds:

• Your class, its level, and its abilities.
• Your gold, bank, items, and equipment.
• Your karma, murder counts, and standings.

So swapping into your mage build does not cost you your class levels or empty your pack - it only changes the skills and stats on your character sheet.

Swapping Builds

Switching to another build starts a 2-minute channel. During the channel you are frozen in place, and taking any damage cancels it, so do it somewhere safe and out of combat. There is no cooldown between swaps - the channel is the only cost. Cancel a channel at any time by clicking the slot again.

Your active build also auto-saves every 30 seconds, so your latest training is captured even if you crash or log out. When the channel completes, the new build's skills and stats are applied and you are ready to play.

Right after any swap, every skill is set to Locked. That stops you from accidentally gaining into a skill you meant to leave alone. Open your skills list and unlock the ones you actually want to train.

Your First Swap

Your original character is preserved as Build 1 (default name is changeable) the first time you ever swap, so you can always return to the skills you came in with. It is the new slot that starts blank, not your first one.

Every build is renameable, including Build 1. Give each slot a name you will recognise - "PvP Mage", "Tamer", "Crafter" - so you always know which one you are switching to. The name shows in the management window and you set it with the [PLPersonalityRename command below.

New Builds

Activating a brand-new, empty slot resets your skills to zero. The first time you switch into a slot you have never used, all of its skills start at 0 - it is a fresh start you train from scratch. This only happens on a new slot; your existing builds keep everything they had.

Because a new build begins at zero and every skill locks on the swap, plan the first few minutes: unlock the skills you intend to raise, then go train them up. You can always swap back to a finished build while you build the new one over several sessions.

Everything is on the management window, but these commands do the same jobs from the chat line:

Tips

• Only swap somewhere safe. The 2-minute channel freezes you, and any damage cancels it.
• Use your two free slots before you spend gold on a third - a lot of players never need more.
• Name your builds. It is easy to start the wrong swap when every slot just reads "Build".
• A new slot wipes to zero skills on first use, so open it only when you are ready to train from scratch.
• After every swap your skills are locked - unlock the ones you want to raise before you head out.
