Profession Workstations
One place-anywhere station per craft profession - double-click and make things right where you stand.
Overview
Workstations are a simple quality-of-life system: seven crafting stations, one for each craft profession, that you can set down almost anywhere and craft at directly. Double-click a station and it opens the same craft menu you would get from that profession's tool, so you can work in the field, in a hamlet, or wherever you have parked - no house, no fixed forge, no hunting for a workbench.
How They Work
A workstation behaves like a permanent, shared crafting tool bolted to the ground:
- Double-click to craft. Standing within 2 tiles, double-click the station and its profession's craft gump opens. Pick what you want and make it, exactly as you would from a tool.
- It does not run out. Stations are effectively infinite - they do not deplete or break from use.
- It stays put. Once placed it is not movable, so it becomes a fixed fixture wherever you set it.
- No house required. Unlike a lot of secured furniture, a station only checks that you are close enough - it does not need to be inside or secured in a house to use.
The Seven Stations
There is exactly one station per craft profession, and each opens that craft's normal menu.
| Station | Opens | What you make there |
|---|---|---|
| Alchemist station | Alchemy | Potions |
| Blacksmith station | Blacksmithy | Metal weapons and armor |
| Carpentry station | Carpentry | Wooden furniture, weapons, shields |
| Fletching station | Bowcraft & Fletching | Bows, crossbows, ammunition |
| Scribe station | Inscription | Scrolls and spellbooks |
| Tailor station | Tailoring | Leather armor and clothing |
| Tinker station | Tinkering | Tools, jewelry, clockwork, and parts |
Smithing Anywhere
The blacksmith station is worth calling out. Normally smithing needs you to be next to both an anvil and a forge. The station satisfies that requirement by itself, so you can smith at a blacksmith station without a separate forge or anvil nearby. Set one down and you have a complete portable smithy.
Placing One
Stations are available in towns in their respective shops, and also as House Add-ons on the Perilous Merchant, placeable in a house by the owner. Each comes in an east or south facing so it lines up with whatever you are building against, and once down a station is a fixed fixture.
Tips
- A blacksmith station is a forge and anvil in one - handy for smithing far from town.
- Since gear is disposable and cannot be repaired (see Disenchanting & Durability), being able to craft on the spot matters more here than on a normal shard.
- Pair a station with a Quartermaster craft bounty to grind points and product at the same time.
- Gather first - a station only opens the menu; you still need the ingots, boards, leather, or reagents. See Resources & Gathering.
