Perilous Legends Wiki

Vanity & Cosmetics

Dyes, spell colours, custom clothing, and hairstyles - how you make a character look like yours.

Overview

On Perilous Legends, cosmetics are exactly that: they change how you look and nothing else. No stat bonuses, no hidden power - a rare dye or a custom cloak is worth what you think it's worth, not what it adds to your armour. What the shard gives you is a lot of control over the look.

The customization spreads across a few systems - a wardrobe for your colours, deed-learned spell hues, hand-drawn clothing, and a hairstylist - most of it managed from one piece of furniture: the Vanity dresser.

The Vanity Dresser

The Vanity is a placeable dresser that opens a colour wardrobe. Double-click it and you get a menu with tabs for the different things you can recolour - hair, facial hair, backpack, and spell effects - each listing the colours you personally own. It's per-user: place one in your house and every visitor sees their own colours in it, not yours.

Dyes & Colours

The dresser gathers every colour you own into one interface, so instead of hunting for the right dye tub you pick a tab, pick a saved colour, and apply. Ownership is tracked per colour as you unlock it - once a hue is yours, it stays available in the Vanity for that character to reuse.

Spell Hues

One of the Vanity tabs is for spell hues - the colour of your casting effects. You don't buy these; you find them. Spell Hue Deeds drop from the top end of the loot system (the Ultra Rare and Mythical tiers), and double-clicking one teaches that colour to your character. From then on it's a hue you can set active, recolouring your spell effects to match. Collect several and swap between them from the Vanity's spell tab.

Custom Clothing

The shard has hand-drawn wearable clothing beyond the standard UO wardrobe - garments like the gilded cloak, drawn frame by frame so they animate correctly when worn, not just on the paperdoll.

Hairstyles

Hair and beards are changed at the Hairstyle Vendor, a hair-stylist NPC. Double-click it and you cycle through the available styles - and beards, if you're male - with the change previewed live on your character as you flip through. When you like a look, you buy it. The preview isn't free to keep: if you close the menu, log out, or don't pay, your original look comes back, so there's no browsing your way to a free restyle.

A restyle is paid in gold: a classic style runs about 25,000 gold, and one of the fancier custom styles is around 200,000 gold. Once you have bought a look it is yours forever - the menu shows a free "OK" instead of a price whenever you switch back to a style you already own (and the look you rolled in with counts as owned). The catalogue is the standard hairstyle set plus a batch of imported and Publish-era styles. Note that the stylist changes the style only; hair colour is handled separately through the Vanity dresser above.

Costs can change. The numbers above are the current in-game prices; confirm them at the stylist if you want to be sure. This page describes how the systems work, not a locked price list.
