Crafting Contracts
A patron notices your work. Fill the order, collect the purse.
Overview
Crafting Contracts are rare commissions that find you. Work your trade and every so often a patron's contract lands in your backpack - an order for a batch of goods from your own craft, with a serious payout waiting when you deliver.
If you have ever filled a Bulk Order Deed, you know the shape: the contract names an item, you craft the batch, you hand it over, you get paid. The difference is that contracts here are a reward for crafting, not a chore board - they cannot be bought, requested, or farmed from an NPC. The only way to get one is to keep making things.
Getting a Contract
Every successful craft at a forge, loom, bench, still, or writing desk has a small chance to draw a patron's attention. It works across the crafting trades: blacksmithing, carpentry, tailoring, tinkering, fletching, alchemy, inscription, and cooking.
The contract is always your kind of work - a smith is asked for smithing, a tailor for tailoring - but the specific item is the patron's pick from that whole trade, so an order can call for anything on your craft menu. Contracts are blessed and stay with you until you fill them.
The Three Tiers
| Tier | Rarity | Items to craft | Gold | Class coins | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
![]() | Apprentice Contract | Uncommon | 50 | 25,000 | 5 |
![]() | Journeyman Contract | Rare | 100 | 50,000 | 10 |
![]() | Grandmaster Contract | Very rare | 250 | 100,000 | 20 |
Where a trade has an exceptional quality tier (smithing, carpentry, tailoring, tinkering, fletching), the contract demands exceptional pieces. Trades without one (alchemy, inscription, cooking) just count finished goods.
Enchanters get contracts too. An Enchanting contract names a specific piece of work - say, twenty Q1 Keenness daggers. Your progress counts automatically as you enchant matching items at an enchanting table, or you can hand finished pieces in through the contract. Enchanting contracts ask for fewer items than crafting ones, and a Grandmaster contract demands Q2 work.
Filling a Contract
- Read it. Double-click the contract to open it: it names the item, the quality, and your progress toward the total.
- Craft the goods. Make the named item as you normally would. Materials and resource type are up to you - the patron cares about the item, not the metal.
- Add them. With the crafted goods in your backpack, hit Add all from backpack in the contract window. It pulls every matching piece in one click and updates the count.
- Get paid. The moment the last piece goes in, the contract completes itself on the spot - no turn-in NPC, no travel. Gold goes to your bank, everything else to your pack.
Rewards
Every completed contract pays its gold and a stack of class coins - one random class's coin, so over time contracts feed every coin pool. The gold is banked automatically; coins and bonus items arrive in your backpack.
Artisan Cloth & Dyes
Contracts are also the only source of the Artisan color. Every completed contract, any tier, has a chance to include a bolt of Artisan Cloth - and a smaller chance at an Artisan dye: hair dye, facial hair dye, backpack dye, a spell hue deed, or ship paint. If you want the crafter's color on your head, your pack, your spells, or your hull, the only road there runs through filled contracts.
